With self-injection, a medication is injected directly into the penis to increase blood flow. It is very effective (about 75 percent to 85 percent) and works whether the nerve that controls erections is intact or not. It can be more costly than oral therapies and results in scarring in 5 percent to 30 percent of users (depending on the drug used). To ensure proper dosing, the first dose is generally administered in the doctor’s office.
Horny goat weed. Horny goat weed (Epimedium) and related herbs have purportedly been treatments for sexual dysfunction for years. Italian researchers found that the main compound in horny goat weed, called icariin, acted in a similar way as drugs like sildenafil.

Erectile dysfunction is the inability to get or keep an erection during sexual activity. This occurs when the penile erection chambers are unable to create and maintain high pressures of blood that enable an erection. Men with ED have trouble staying firm through ejaculation. Age, high blood pressure, heart disease, stress, and more can contribute to the cause of ED.
For most patients, the recommended dose is 50 mg taken, as needed, approximately 1 hour before sexual activity. However, VIAGRA may be taken anywhere from 30 minutes to 4 hours before sexual activity. The maximum recommended dosing frequency is once per day.

Background: Men who use erectile dysfunction medications for recreational purposes may be at increased risk of becoming psychologically dependent, which in turn could lead to psychogenic-based erectile dysfunction symptoms. Sildenafil has become one of the most commonly prescribed and abused drugs available today.
Use Avanafil (Stendra) exactly as directed on the label, or as prescribed by your doctor. Do not use in larger or smaller amounts or for longer than recommended.
Drinking and sex aren't always a great mix. More than a drink or two can dampen your libido, soften your erection, or make it difficult to have an orgasm. If alcohol is causing your ED, it probably will go away when you cut back on or quit drinking.

Medicines are sometimes prescribed for purposes other than those listed in a Patient Information leaflet. Do not use VIAGRA for a condition for which it was not prescribed. Do not give VIAGRA to other people, even if they have the same symptoms that you have. It may harm them.
